Client Visuals

For this exercise I was asked to edit an image to it’s simplest structural form without losing it’s purpose or visual. For this I chose Oil, 2008, created for the Guardian newspaper by Paul Blow and MacIntel:They Are Coming, 2006, created for the front cover of Macmania magazine by Daniel Bueno.

Using pencil I aimed to produce a very simple line drawing of almost basic shapes to see if the understanding of the illustration would still hold up.

The first sketch was way to simple so I added a few more details for the second illustration although if I was the client I would be a little unhappy with the quality of this visual so I redrew it again, this time with more detail.

Although there is no colour and less detail I feel this is as much as I could get away with taking out without the visual losing it’s narrative. I repeated the same process for the second image starting with a simple sketchy study using basic shapes but again felt it needed more detail for the client to understand what is happening in the illustration.
